Cobblers away woe continues

Wed 26 Dec, 07:00 PM

Northampton made it six successive away games without a win as Doncaster wrapped up a comprehensive 2-0 win at the Keepmoat Stadium.Rovers dominated possession and Mark McCammon fired them in front in the 11th minute when he slammed home a half-volley after being left unmarked at the far post to latch onto James Coppinger's right-wing cross.

Visiting keeper Mark Bunn had to save at full stretch from Paul Green as Doncaster continued to call the shots and McCammon headed over the top soon after.

Northampton's only first-half shot on target came from Andy Kirk whose 20-yarder was saved by Neil Sullivan at the foot of the post.

But the one-way traffic continued and Doncaster made it 2-0 when skipper Adam Lockwood headed home in superb style at the near post from a 29th-minute corner from Brian Stock.

Town never looked like fighting back although Jason Crowe missed a good chance when he fired straight at keeper Sullivan from close range seven minutes from time.
