Fulham eyeing Scharner swoop

Sun 27 Jan, 06:16 PM

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has reportedly told Fulham to increase their offer if they wish to stand any chance of signing Paul Scharner this month. The Austrian has put in a number of good performances for the Latics this season as they have struggled at the bottom of the Premiership.

New Fulham boss Roy Hodgson has already had one bid of £3million turned down by Wigan but as we near Thursday's transfer deadline Hodgson may well go back in for the defender in a bid to bolster his struggling Fulham squad.

Scharner has proved to be a bit of a cult-hero at the JJB and Bruce has made it clear he won't sell him on the cheap. If Fulham come back with a stronger bid it may tempt Bruce into selling as the injection of funds would allow him to strengthen his side for the relegation battle ahead.
