Southampton caretaker boss John Gorman believes there is a chance of Glenn Hoddle filling the vacant managerial position at St Mary's.The former England manager, who is currently working on his own academy in Spain, has been linked with a return following George Burley's departure to take over as Scotland manager.
Hoddle previously managed the club during the 2000/01 season before leaving for Tottenham, and Gorman believes that the 50-year-old would consider the job if chairman Leon Crouch could convince him the club will have the financial backing to move forward.
"Who says he's not coming back? Glenn has turned down a lot of jobs, but he loved being here and he would definitely come back if he felt it was right," said Gorman.
"He has put a lot of effort into setting up his own academy, which he's very passionate about, but if Southampton were prepared to wait, he might want to come back into club management and there's a decent squad to work with here.
"I would say he has always wanted to be at a club which has a chance financially, but the chairman is looking for investors to come in here and whoever Southampton appoint as manager could find himself in charge of a club that's going places again."
