Aston Martin will battle holders Audi and Peugeot for outright victory in the Le Mans 24 Hours race this year.
Aston Martin will enter a petrol engine V12-powered LMP1 car in the blue and orange livery of Gulf Oil to take on their diesel-powered rivals.
They last took outright victory at Le Mans 50 years ago with American Carroll Shelby and Britain's former grand prix driver Roy Salvadori.
Aston Martin have won the GT1 category for the last two years.

is petrol the same as diesel ? im french my english vocabulary is limited, still no need to insult son
It would be good to see the Gulf colours running again @ Le Mans. Presumably, messers Yorke & Wyeth will not be involved, as I don't think either of them is still breathing or am I mistaken? Are any of the old team still involved? Is Carrol Shelby still breathing, is Jackie Ickyx interested in trying to win the race as a team manager as many times as he did as a driver, is he still able enough to drive? After all if Paul Newman could still win races aged 80, & Mansell is still considering it at 55, & what of the Andretti's Mario,Mike & John might they still be interested?
No.8
I myself prefers the Gulf GT40s or the Gulf Audi Johannsen.
All preference of course but still, good looking car from aston all the same
no.7 Ignorant idiot
Best Looking Gulf sponsored cars were the Porsche 917's they were by far the most successful Gulf sponsored cars too !
petrol lmfao thats funny
how the @#$% are they gonna win with this ... this must be a joke
time doesnt always march on - this is so little different in appearance than the Ford of years gone by in the same colours. Thats rather nice really.
The last couple of Aston Martins that gave Le Mans a whirl sounded great but were off pace lets hope these are a bit quicker :-)
Well petrol is cheaper than diesel :-)
Nice but not as good as looking GT40 in the same colours. An old man
Gotta love those Gulf colours :)
Go on Aston, keep petrol alive.
