Premier League - Samba tears into Rovers owners

Fri, 27 Jan 08:42:00 2012

Blackburn defender Christopher Samba has hit out at Indian owners Venky's, claiming they "don't understand" English football, as he continues to push for a move away from Ewood Park.

Everton 1 Blackburn 1

Samba requested a transfer earlier this month, claiming he had "given 100%" to the club for five years and that "now is the right time for me to pursue a new challenge". A move has so far failed to materialise, despite an offer from QPR and reported interest from Tottenham, and Samba has called on Venky's to grant him his desired move.

He told The Sun: "I signed a new deal last January because Venky's told me they had big plans. Names like Ronaldinho were mentioned and they promised there was going to be a lot of investment in the team. It hasn't happened."

He added: "They don't understand football in this country and they don't realise how much I've given to Blackburn and that they have broken promises they have made. I stayed because I believed them but they weren't honest with me and now I know I made the wrong decision.

"I share the frustration of the fans who must have believed the owners too."

The giant Congo international also claims the fee being sought for his services, a reported £15million, is unreasonable.

"I'm not a £15million player," he said. "Blackburn only signed me for £400,000 from Hertha Berlin and if they get £7million now then that's very good business.

"I've got nothing against the manager (Steve Kean). It's not like he's been given £100million to spend, he's trying to do the best he can with what he has.

"This is between me and the owners. It's personal."

  2. Looks like there is only one thing those Chicken Farmers will understand, all the Rover's Fans will have to talk with their feet and stay away. If there is nothing coming in maybe the will get off their arses and sell the club to someone who will restore its credibility again.

  5. @andy,post 64 'Indians fight with us in ww2' - The 'Pakistinkys' as you so intelligently put them, also fought in WW2(including my grandad) -so a bit of balance wouldn't go amiss...Go and educate yourself, thicko, and spread your lies and blinkered view of history elsewhere.
Your other comment about Iraq and Afghanistan, however, is true.

  7. I am actually sad to see professional footballers tearing apart their long time by requesting for transfer when they are in contract. The European Football Association should do something to educate player managers and players themselves to respect their contracts and clubs. This is taking football nowhere.

  11. Samba he's really a good playerwho has always played with all his strenght for this club, and he deserves to leave, but the guy has made a costly mistake which he shouldnt have made in the first place .Samba was at the edge of leaving blackburn last season ,but he still went ahead to sign another two years contract. This is Britain where you have to understand the basic knowledge of what they called "Contract" the moment you penned your signature on it then you bind are to it.The Ven.... whatever has broken their part of the promises ,so they should let this guy go.

  19. Well well all these opinions are really quite interesting! but at the end of the day its all down to Venkys and the pathetic way that they have dismantled our club in less than two seasons,Samba is 100% right in some instances the most pertinent is the fact that they do not know anything about either football in general, running a football club or indeed telling anyone the truth including themselves! for if they are of the opinion that they are in anyway running the club along good business lines then they are as deluded as our alledged manager who is in fact the Premireship leader in that area.shame it wont get us any points.
Dont think that as we have just about managed through luck (goodwillies wonderfull strike against Everton for instance dont understand why it wasn't goal of the week?) that anything has changed we are still heading for the drop for sure along most likely Wigan and 1 other, If Eric thinks its going to lead to "survival" quote ETele I would have a little wager with him as currently there's no chance with all the dross at the club currently,Sparky would have been the one watch QPR go in the second half! dare i say it????? If Sam was still here we would be minimum half way up the prem by now,Neck ache or not I know what i prefer!!!! what about you???

From steve f, on Fri 27 Jan 5:30PM
  20. Kean not to blame here. False promises from owners who do not understand football or the fans. I feel sorry for Kean and his players at this time. If fans want to chanel anger direct it to the chicken farming owners who dont give an F.
