Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill will be without striker Nicklas Bendtner for Sunday's FA Cup fourth-round clash with derby rivals Middlesbrough.
The Denmark international suffered a broken nose and other facial injuries during last weekend's 2-0 Barclays Premier League victory over Swansea and is likely to be missing until the middle of February.
However, fellow frontman Fraizer Campbell is in contention after another appearance for the reserves on his return from a second serious knee injury, while midfielder Jack Colback was expected to resume training on Friday following his recovery from an ankle problem.

Sunderland fans are getting all excited about the prospect of signing Kevin Davies, a washed up 34 year old who can't break into a poor side fighting relegation.
That's the Sunderland I know and love, I suppose he'll be the final piece of the jigsaw for next seasons top four challenge!!!
He's never going to score loads of goals, but it was a nasty injury. The other strikers are a bit too raw and Campbell needs to be gently brought back in after horrible luck with injuries. Would be funny if we signed Emile and Kevin!
if he is a proven goalscorer why is he on loan they normally transfer for 20\30 million
You're a prat Duncan---Bendtner is a proven goalgetter---scored again for Denmark in the EQ's! He'll get the goals. Loan clubs never want to be embarrassed by their players scoring against them---and NBs got a point to prove to Wenger!
I think that "rule" should be dropped.
I think this means the team will be stronger without him
