Duffen: Premier key to Campbell

Wed 27 Feb, 06:00 PM

Chairman Paul Duffen believes Hull's hopes of signing on-loan striker Fraizer Campbell could depend on whether the club achieve promotion.Duffen feels it is unlikely Campbell would make a permanent move to a Championship club, but stressed that if the 20-year-old chose to leave Manchester United then the Tigers would be first in line to secure his services, not Charlton as has been reported.

"I know Fraizer has a burning ambition to be a Premiership footballer," Duffen told the Hull Daily Mail.

"Obviously, he would love to stay with Manchester United and I think it's very unlikely he would leave there to sign for a Championship team. I think a number of Premiership teams will be after him next season. Hopefully we will be one of them.

"The £2million being reported is speculation and the price could be anything. It's not an issue at the minute, what matters is Fraizer can't be recalled or sign for anyone else until his loan with us finishes."

Campbell has scored nine times in 19 league appearances for Hull since joining on a season-long loan from Old Trafford in October.
