Ellison 'doesn't really want to go'

Wed 27 Feb, 06:15 PM

Midfielder Kevin Ellison has reaffirmed his desire to stay at Chester despite speculation that he would leave during the transfer window. The 29-year-old was sent off for violent conduct in City's 4-0 thrashing by Rochdale in January amid mounting speculation that he would leave on a subsequent loan deal.

"I think half of our fans at the Rochdale game thought I got sent off because they thought I was leaving the club," Ellison told the Chester Evening Leader.

"We've been on a terrible run and I haven't helped the situation. I regret what I did against Rochdale, but that wasn't because people thought I was going.

"The gaffer [Bobby Williamson] pulled me into his office before the Rochdale game and told me there had been a few offers, but I told him that I didn't really want to go."

Ellison starred with two goals on his return to the side as Chester ended a miserable seven-game losing run with a 3-1 win at Mansfield on Saturday.
