Shrewsbury defender Ben Herd has called on team-mates to share responsibility for their inconsistenty, which has seen them slip down the table. The Shrews lost to Bristol Rovers in last season's play-off final and were widely tipped to be promotion candidates this season.
However, Gary Peters' side have won just one of their 10 league games in 2008 and that run has seen them slip 13 points behind the play-off places.
"I think everyone went on record as saying it's the strongest squad we have had for a few years so from that point of view, we have under-achieved," Herd told the Shropshire Star.
"As players we have to take our share of the responsibility and shoulder the blame for that. It's funny because anywhere you go the manager always seems to get the brunt of the criticism, but we are the ones out there as players.
"We haven't been getting the rub of the green but I'm a firm believer that you make your own luck so we just have to keep working hard and things will change."
