Aston Villa are waiting on the fitness of defender Olof Mellberg ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Arsenal. The Sweden international suffered an ankle problem last week which kept him out of the 2-1 win at Reading.
But manager Martin O'Neill has delivered a positive progress report from Villa's medical team ahead of the trip to the Emirates.
"I have spoken to our doctor Roddy MacDonald, but haven't spoken to Olof myself yet," he said.
"But Roddy is relatively hopeful that his ankle will settle down and that he will maybe be able to start training towards the end of the week."
