Middlesbrough v Sheffield United (kick-off 20:05 GMT)
The hosts will be without Jeremie Aliadiere, who starts a four-match ban for raising his arm to Javier Mascherano during the weekend's defeat at Liverpool. That could give record signing Afonso Alves the chance to start for the first time since his move from Heerenveen last month. Gary O'Neil is available again after illness but Mohamed Shawky is still struggling with a hamstring injury and will take no part.
Sheffield United boss Kevin Blackwell has been boosted by the return of defender Ugo Ehiogu after a hamstring injury and Lee Martin is available after having shaken off a rib injury.
A tie against Championship side Cardiff awaits the winner.
