West Ham keeper Robert Green said that he has all but given up on being recalled to the England squad.
The 28-year-old shot-stopper did not feature for England since picking up an injury representing the B-team ahead of the 2006 World Cup and, despite the sacking of Steve McLaren, was omitted by new boss Fabio Capello despite impressing for the Hammers this campaign and has gone so far as to stitch "England's number six" into his gloves.
"I don't know what I've got to do to get in the England squad," Green told the Daily Star. "It's become apparent that maybe I'm not going to feature.
"It is still very early in Mr Capello's reign and it would be foolish to rule myself out for the future, so I'll just keep playing.
"But it's disappointing not to be involved."
Green is sat behind David James, Paul Robinson and Scott Carson in the pecking order, with Chris Kirkland, youngster Joe Hart and the injured Ben Foster also in contention.
