Dyer signs on short-term deal

Chesterfield boss Lee Richardson has signed experienced striker Bruce Dyer on a short-term contract until the end of the season.The 32-year-old, who can count the Spireites' local rivals Sheffield United and Rotherham amongst his former clubs, will go straight into Richardson's squad to face Dagenham on Saturday.

Dyer becomes the third new arrival at Saltergate on transfer deadline day after Colin Hawkins and Graeme Owens joined on loan from Coventry and Middlesbrough respectively.

Meanwhile, young striker Jamie Jackson returned from a loan spell at Gainsborough only to go straight back out on loan at Matlock Town.
