Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander believes goalkeeper Tommy Lee will benefit greatly from his loan spell at promotion-chasers Rochdale.Eyebrows were raised when Alexander allowed the former Manchester United youth player to join the Spotland outfit while the Silkmen battle to avoid relegation.
However, Alexander believes Lee, 22, is more likely to prosper at Rochdale than on the substitutes' bench at Macclesfield.
"He can be recalled at 24 hours notice and secondly I don't believe in picking a keeper to sit on the bench," said the former Lincoln boss.
"And he's getting match practice, which is great as it wasn't something I could guarantee him at the moment."
