Swansea boss Roberto Martinez has saluted Owain Tudur-Jones after he battled back from a knee injury to earn his first senior cap for Wales. The 23-year-old midfielder has been restricted to just three appearances since November 2006 for the Swans, but is now back to full fitness and came off the bench to feature as Wales won 2-0 in Luxembourg on Wednesday.
Tudur-Jones could now make his first start of the season for the League One leaders against Hartlepool on Saturday and Martinez is delighted with his progress.
"It was a proud moment for everyone when he came on for his first Welsh cap," beamed Martinez.
"And nobody deserves it more than Owain himself because he's worked really hard over the last 18 months to get himself fit again.
"His character has helped him through the tough challenge he has had to face."
