Oldham boss John Sheridan believes injured strike duo Lee Hughes and Craig Davies hold the key to the club's hopes for next season. The pair are currently sidelined with groin and hamstring injuries respectively and Hughes may not feature again this term.
The former West Brom forward underwent surgery this week to cure the groin problems which have reduced him to just 21 appearances this season.
"Lee needs a good pre-season under his belt because I don't think he's been fully fit since he joined us," said Sheridan.
"He has always struggled with his groin. It's vital we get them both fit in pre-season and then keep them fit because they will be big players for us next season."
