Sleath joins Gainsborough on loan

Thu 27 Mar, 05:30 PM

Mansfield midfielder Danny Sleath has joined Blue Square North side Gainsborough Trinity on loan for the remainder of the season. The 21-year-old had initially agreed to join Matlock Town before having a change of heart.

Sleath has started three matches and made seven substitute appearances for the Stags this season, but has not featured in the squad since the beginning of January.

"Matlock first came in for Danny and he agreed to join them. However, right at the last minute Gainsborough have come in for him and he has since changed his decision," explained Mansfield manager Paul Holland.

"It is a shame that we are having to send players out on loan, but we don't have a reserve league and these players are short on match fitness. We will be keeping a close eye on Danny's progress."

Sleath, who had a loan spell at Boston earlier this season, is the second Stags player to go out on loan on transfer deadline day after Ian Holmes joined Telford.
