Chesterfield have signed Coventry City's Colin Hawkins and Middlesbrough's Graeme Owens on loan for the remainder of the season.Hawkins' arrival from Coventry ends manager Lee Richardson's search for an experienced central defender after another target, Graeme Lee, joined Shrewsbury last week.
The 30-year-old, who is out of contract at the Ricoh Arena in the summer, has made just one appearance for the Sky Blues this season.
That came in a 3-0 Carling Cup first-round victory against Notts County in August.
Versatile Middlesbrough midfielder Owens can operate on either wing, although the right-hand side is his natural position.
The 19-year-old, who was a member of Boro's 2004 FA Youth Cup-winning side, made his debut for the Premier League club as a substitute in the Carling Cup third-round tie against Tottenham at White Hart Lane in August.
