Ward wants United's run to continue

Thu 27 Mar, 12:45 PM

Carlisle travel to struggling Gillingham on Saturday with boss John Ward urging his side to extend their 11-game unbeaten streak. The contrast between the fortunes of the two clubs could not be starker going into the game at Priestfield as the Gills are wedged in the bottom four while Carlisle are in the hunt for promotion.

Ward is well aware Mark Stimson's men will be scrapping for their lives, but has demanded a professional performance from his players.

"It's a great run obviously and it's something we need to keep working at because there are too many teams close enough to us that if we slip up, they'll catch us," said Ward.

"We've got to keep working very hard to maintain a high level of performances and it will not be easy.

"It's not an easy place to go but at the same time we're scrapping for our lives for a different reason. You can't underestimate our determination as well as that of Gillingham."
