On 10 March, while running a test session, Larry Cols' Volkswagen Polo Super 2000 was greatly damaged in a violent off-road accident. Hans Goudezeune, sitting in the co-driver's seat, unfortunately lost his life. The seriously wounded Cols was brought directly to a hospital's intensive care unit.
The state of his health has been of much concern since then, but it seems there have been gradual improvements.
"Larry has left the intensive care ward and has been completely 'disconnected.' He is now in a room within the neurology service. He is slowly recuperating and able to make small movements with his right arm and right leg," a press release on Col's official website reads.
"He can answer very precise questions (his name, age, children's names, etc.). Now it will take much patience, time, and willpower to go forward in order to get through."
The statement ends with a promise to provide more information as matters progress.
