Godolphin Debutants Ready For War

Thu 27 Mar, 12:26 AM

Simon Crisford, racing manager for Godolphin, hopes Dandy Man can lead the line in all the major sprints this summer.

The five-year-old has acquitted himself well at a high level throughout the past three seasons and will soon make his debut for the boys in blue, having been purchased out of the Tracey Collins yard last term.

Crisford said: "He has an official rating of 115 and he is a very brave, top-class sprinter whom we plan to start off in the Palace House Stakes (Newmarket), followed by the Temple Stakes (Haydock) and hopefully the King's Stand Stakes (Royal Ascot)."

While Dandy Man will be plying his trade at sprint trips, Godolphin have high hopes for Regal Flush at the opposite end of the spectrum.

Beaten two lengths for Sir Michael Stoute when fourth in the St Leger last term, Crisford expects the new recruit to challenge for top staying honours.

"He ran a very promising race in the St Leger. He is a potential stayer but the plan will be to start him off over a mile and a half," he said at Godolphin's open day at Al Quoz stables in Dubai.

"He shows plenty of speed and a mile and a quarter would not be out of the question.

"He has an official rating of 112 and we are hoping that he might make up into a Cup horse."

Slightly lower in the pecking order is St Leger fifth Veracity, for whom a few trips on the continent are firmly on the cards.

"The plan is to run him in the staying races in Europe during the summer," Crisford added on www.godolphin.com.
