Promising Pair Set To Reappear

Thu 27 Mar, 04:09 PM

Beacon Lodge will return to Newbury on April 19 for a crack at the Lane's End Greenham Stakes.

The promising youngster scored in Group Three company as a juvenile when last seen at the Berkshire track in October and holds an entry in the 2000 Guineas.

"He's going for the Greenham and he's wintered well," said trainer Clive Cox.

"He was my first Group winner last year when he won the Horris Hill and I'm very hopeful that he's progressed.

"He's not as tall as a lot of other horses but he's big enough and he's all muscle. He's a very strong and compact individual.

"We're seeing positive signs at the moment and he doesn't mind a bit of ease in the ground, which is more than likely what he'll encounter at Newbury.

"I hope he can keep building on what he's achieved so far," he told At The Races.

Cox is also looking forward to unleashing Don't Forget Faith in 2008.

The filly beat Visit in maiden company last year before running consistently behind the likes of Spacious and Zarkava.

"She's a gorgeous filly and she did us proud last year," Cox added.

"She would like a little bit of ease in the ground and wouldn't want it too firm, but she's done very well through the winter.

"She's in the 1000 Guineas and the French and Irish Oaks and I hope she'll stay that kind of distance, definitely a mile and a quarter."
