Stan Moore believes Sgt Schultz has solid each-way prospects in the intercasino.co.uk Rosebery Stakes at Kempton on Saturday.
The five-year-old is fit from a winter campaign at Lingfield, where he finished in the first four on all six starts, winning twice.
"He's a tough, genuine horse and he won nicely the last day. He has crept up the weights a bit but he deserves to take his chance," said Moore.
Apprentice Tolley Dean partnered Sgt Schultz to victory on his latest start and the 3lb claimer will again be in the saddle at the weekend.
"He gave him a fine ride that day and he's good value for his 3lb. I think he's one of the up-and-coming apprentices," Moore added.
"It's going to be a tricky race and it doesn't matter where you are drawn - whatever draw you get at Kempton you have to live with.
"He's in great form. He's a typical In The Wings and improving as he gets older.
"There's probably a few better-class horses in there but some are without recent all-weather experience so we might have a bit of an edge on fitness.
"He's got a good each-way chance."
Top weight in a field of 15 is the Geoff Wragg-trained Heron Bay while other interesting contenders include Mark Johnston's Players Please, the Richard Hannon-trained Mr Aviator and Watamu from Peter Makin's stable.
