Soapy Back At Doncaster

Thu 27 Mar, 04:09 PM

Connections of Soapy Danger are looking forward to the five-year-old making his seasonal debut at Doncaster on Saturday.

He is a among of field of six declared for the DBS Classic Breeze Up Doncaster Shield as he bids to get his career back on the winning path.

Mark Johnston's charge appeared to have a bright future ahead of him when he won the Queen's Vase and the Princess of Wales's Stakes at Newmarket in the summer of 2006.

However, he was sidelined for 13 months after damaging a leg when finishing fifth in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York that August.

Johnston managed to get three runs into the son of Danzig last term without success, although he showed he had made a full recovery.

"He's had a good winter and Mark and his team are very happy with him. We are looking forward to Saturday," said Gary Coffey, racing manager to owner Renata Jacobs.

"Everything has been good, touch wood, all winter and he's going the right way.

"A mile and a half is an ideal trip to start him over - he won his Group Two over that distance.

"It's as small select field and the top one, Munsef, has got some good form. It will be a nice test."

Munsef, trained by John Dunlop, has to give 4lb to his five rivals, the others being Carte Diamond, Come On Jonny, The Last Drop and Furmigadelaguista.
