Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson took some personal satisfaction from David Beckham winning his 100th international cap.
Manchester City boss Eriksson, who spent five and a half years working alongside then England captain Beckham, watched Wednesday night's 1-0 defeat by France at home.
"Of course it was satisfying," Eriksson said. "I don't know how many caps we did together but it was a lot.
"I am very happy that he has his 100th; if he is going to have 101 or not I have no idea, that's not my business."
England colleague Michael Owen is among those who have backed Beckham to extend his international career beyond his landmark game.
The 32-year-old has kept himself fit by training with Arsenal this winter and is preparing for a second campaign in the USA with Los Angeles Galaxy.
Current manager Fabio Capello has also made it clear the selection in Paris was not made on sentiment.
Eriksson added: "I am quite sure he should like to play until the coming World Cup (in 2010).
"I haven't spoken to David for a long time, he hasn't started his season yet so I guess he will be better and better when he plays the league over there."
