Bayern Munich midfielder Hamit Altintop looks set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a broken metatarsal.

The 25-year-old was injured in Turkey's 2-2 draw against Belarus on Wednesday.

Altintop had surgery in Germany after the game, but appears certain to be ruled out of Bayern's remaining 13 Bundesliga's fixtures as they seek to secure the title.

Munich are currently nine points ahead of Hamburg at the top of the table.

"It's a shock," Bayern coach Ottmar Hitzfeld said.

"It's doubtful whether he'll be able to play again this season."

Worryingly for Turkey, Altintop may also be forced out of Euro 2008 - which begins on June 7.
