Sylvain Chavanel won the 62nd edition of the Dwars door Vlaanderen.
The Frenchman, riding for Cofidis, won the 200 kilometre race through the Flanders region of Belgium in a time of 4 hours 36'23".
Dutchman Steven de Jongh (Quick Step-Innergetic) was second, while home rider Niko Eeckhout (Topsport Vlaanderen) finished third in the semi-classic race.
In wet and rainy conditions, 28-year-old Chavanel was involved in every break and attacking with Nick Nuyens on the Oude Kwaremont. Nuyens eventually finished tenth.
