Calderwood admits Forest jitters

Sun 27 Apr, 05:00 PM

Colin Calderwood admits Nottingham Forest felt the pressure after a nervy 1-0 win at Hartlepool kept them in the hunt for automatic promotion.A late goal from substitute Lewis McGugan ensured the race for second place will be decided on the last day of the season next weekend.

Already guaranteed a play-off place, Forest want to leave League One by the direct route, and their final game at home to Yeovil will give them a chance of some long overdue promotion glory, although they need to better Doncaster's result at Cheltenham.

"It was a nervous game for us at times," said Calderwood. "Towards the end there was always the fear that Hartlepool might catch us out and score themselves, so I was just as concerned with keeping a clean sheet as I was about us scoring.

"But then we put on a marvellous move and produced a fantastic finish to earn a win, and I'm delighted. It means that our reward is instant - it's all down to us next week when we are at home, and of course with our fans that is always an advantage.

"The chance is there for us and it's up to us."
