Alan Knill was disappointed Bury failed to take all three points from their clash with Rochdale, but believes they were the better team.Adam Le Fondre scored a last minute equaliser for Dale after Nicky Adams had put the home side into a deserving lead.

"That was a proper derby game, and that's how it should be. The first thing for me - it shows how far we've come- we were the best team, even before they had a man sent off, we were the best team with the chances we had.

"Obviously I'm disappointed not to take the three points, but I think it shows where we are, we are a team that can compete.

"If they are the best team in the league, which is what they keep shouting about and telling us - then what are we.

"As for their penalty, the referee makes the decision and you have to accept it. Firstly for the sending off with Ben Futcher. Everyone is telling us that all of a sudden he has a cut over his eye. Futch says he was struck in the box, and he's not reacted to it. He's pushed the lad away and the referee has deemed it as raising his hands. It happens."
