Tranmere manager Ronnie Moore admits he had "nothing but praise" for his players after they secured a 1-0 win over promotion-hopefuls Southend.Antony Kay's second-half goal gave Rovers a narrow victory at Prenton Park on Saturday which ensured they at least sent their fans away happy despite missing out on a League One play-off berth.
Moore said: "We deserved to win the game and it was a lovely bit of football which brought the goal. We played with some pride and I have nothing but praise for the players.
"We showed we are not a million miles away from being a good side.
"It would have been nice for our season to have gone on a bit longer but we need more goals from midfield in the future. Hopefully we will be a big threat next season after a bit of tinkering."
