Caretaker Gerry Murphy hailed long-serving Danny Schofield for steering Huddersfield to a third straight win at the Galpharm against Walsall.Schofield, who has announced he will depart the club at the end of the season, slotted home his second goal of the campaign to give Town the lead before Andy Booth sealed a 2-0 League One victory.
Murphy said: "You could not have written a script better. I brought him off with 11 minutes to go because he deserved applause from the fans. He thanked us for bringing him off, there was no other reason for bringing him off other than to get a round of applause.
"We didn't start the best but as the game went on we got into it. The back four never looked like they were ever going to concede a goal.
"I thought James Berrett did a fantastic job holding in midfield. The lads are coming of age now and they want to express themselves.
"I have to say that the players have given me everything. It was not a hard job and it wasn't rocket science coming in, I've known the boys a long time and there is a mutual respect between us and all I have had to do is organise them."
