Hartlepool manager Danny Wilson felt his side "played some good stuff" in an entertaining game against promotion hopefuls Nottingham Forest.A late goal from substitute Lewis McGugan ensured Forest won 1-0 and took home all three points and in turn kept their hunt for an automatic promotion spot alive.

Wilson said: "We have to keep our heads up after disappointments like this and try again on the last day.

"But then it's all looking forward to next season, and we have to get things right in the summer if we want to put an end to this sort of frustration.

"In this game we were shown that strong teams with big, strong squads always have that something extra.

"At times we played some good stuff, but we struggled for that bit of quality we needed in the final third of the pitch. We matched them in many areas, but up front we couldn't create the chances we needed to get a grip on the game."
