Atletico Madrid's Maniche has told his club to "end their relationship" with coach Javier Aguirre, and said he hopes to leave the club himself.Maniche has fallen out with Mexican coach Aguirre, who now looks likely to stay in charge of the Rojiblancos after leading them back to the Champions League for the first time in 11 years this season.
Media reports last month suggested Aguirre would be leaving the capital club next season, with the speculation reaching its peak when it was reported he had been offered the job as Mexico coach.
But the 30-year-old Maniche, who has been left out of the Portugal squad for Euro 2008, said he does not understand why the capital club want to keep hold of him.
"How Aguirre is going to continue I cannot imagine," he told Spanish newspaper Marca.
"The best thing to do would be to put an end to his relationship with Atletico."
Maniche went on to admit that his agent is set to travel to the Spanish capital in an attempt to negotiate an exit for the player who has spent the past few months on loan at Internazionale.
"I hope that everything is sorted out by the end of this week," he continued.
"My agent is going to Madrid and I hope he finds a solution."
Reports in Spain suggest clubs from England and France are most interested in the midfielder's services.
