Brown: Windass has part to play

Tue 27 May, 02:18 PM

Hull manager Phil Brown insists veteran striker Dean Windass could feature prominently in the Premier League next season.Windass scored the goal which helped beat Bristol City 1-0 in the play-off final on Saturday to help the Tigers reach the top flight for the first time in the club's 104-year history.

At 39, Windass is reaching the end of his career, but Brown believes the Hull-born forward - who scored 15 goals this season - may still have a part to play at the KC Stadium.

"People say to me 'at 39, will he still play another season in the Championship let alone the Premier League?'

"I'm not in the business of being sympathetic. But with his attitude, it would be foolish to dismiss him.

"Our desire is to survive in the Premier League next season. But if I feel Dean can help us in that, he will continue."
