Coleman cautious over Cov spending

Tue 27 May, 02:18 PM

Chris Coleman has promised new signings this summer - but the Coventry boss has assured supporters that the club will not be breaking the bank.Coleman has already gone on record as stating that as many as six new players could arrive at the Ricoh Arena during the close season.

However, the Welshman is keen to do his dealings in such a way that the future of the club is not thrown into doubt again.

"We are not talking about signing one or two new players, we will be signing more but that doesn't mean that we have to splash out millions of pounds," Coleman told the club's official website.

"The club has done that in the past and all it did was get them into £60million worth of debt at one point and no nearer the Premier League. That is unacceptable so we are not talking about splashing out millions and millions.

"The chairman knows what we need to do. He is a football person and I am lucky to have a chairman like that. We all know that we need to invest but at the right amount of money at the right time."
