Davies keen on securing new players

Tue 27 May, 05:00 PM

Chester boss Simon Davies hopes the imminent arrival of Paul Taylor will spark an influx of summer signings to the Deva Stadium.Vauxhall Motors striker Taylor will begin talks with the Blues this week after the two clubs agreed an undisclosed fee for the 22-year-old.

And Davies has now turned his attentions to bolstering City's midfield and defence.

"We need a striker to partner John Murphy in attack and we believe Paul Taylor fits the bill," Davies told the Chester Evening Leader.

"We were disappointed with our failure to convert a number of goalscoring opportunities towards the end of last season and a striker has remained at the top of my shopping list for that reason.

"I would also like to sign a couple of midfielders, and a central defender, although both Kevin Roberts and Shaun Kelly are in contention to win a place alongside skipper Paul Linwood."
