Peterborough director of football Barry Fry believes that goalkeeper Joe Lewis is now worth £4million after his call-up to the England squad. The 20-year-old became the club's record signing in January when manager Darren Ferguson shelled out £400,000 to bring him to London Road from Norwich.
But after Fabio Capello called him up to the squad to face the United States on Wednesday - becoming the first Peterborough player to be picked in a full England squad - Fry believes that his value has shot through the roof.
He said: "It's a massive honour for Joe and the club.
"It also shows what an astute signing Joe has been.
"It might have looked a lot of money at the time for a young goalkeeper, but his value has probably shot up to 10 times what we paid for him."
