Local lad Jonny Howson is set to be offered a new contract by Leeds despite having another two-years to go on his current deal at the club. The 20-year-old midfielder, who scored both goals in the play-off semi-final win at Carlisle, is a top priority for the club.
"We are planning to give Jonny Howson a new contract," chairman Ken Bates told the club's official website.
"If it hadn't been for the play-offs it's something we would have looked at already.
"Obviously there have been other priorities and we've had to delay discussions slightly, but we'll look to sort it out quickly."
Howson made 35 appearances for the Whites last season, including their Wembley defeat by Doncaster in the play-off final.
