Salcido not keen on Eriksson move

Tue 27 May, 07:45 AM

Mexico's Carlos Salcido fears a new national coach such as former England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson would take too long to adapt to the country.Eriksson, who is rumoured to be heading out of Manchester City in the summer, has been heavily linked with the Mexican position, which has been vacant since the dismissal of Hugo Sanchez in March.

But Dutch-based defender Salcido said that the national team cannot afford to wait for the Swede to settle in Mexico.

"I have to say that I needed three or four months to get used to a country where nobody spoke Spanish and where I had to adapt myself to everything," the PSV Eindhoven player said.

"We cannot risk waiting to see what happens as we do not have a lot of time before the World Cup.

"We need to analyse whether the new coach has the ability to adapt himself to everything.

"If he adapts quickly, that's great, but you know we don't have too much time before the World Cup."
