Vokes hopes to cap off week

Tue 27 May, 03:50 PM

Sam Vokes believes that winning his first full international cap for Wales would be a suitable finale to a monumental week in his career.Vokes, 18, has been drafted in to John Toshack's squad to face Iceland and Holland this week following his move to Molineux from Bournemouth last week.

"It's a great opportunity for me to go away with Wales and if I get a cap that will be a brilliant feeling," Vokes told the Express and Star.

"It would cap off a great few days if it happens. Any player wants to play at international level so if I get the call I'll be very happy."

"I just want to come in here and prove myself," added Vokes. "If I can do that on the training field then I will get a crack in the first team."
