Poland coach Leo Beenhakker has managed to find some positives from his side's 1-1 draw with Macedonia, despite failing to impress in the friendly match in Reutlingen.

Poland fell behind to a Goran Maznov goal just before half-time, only for Radoslaw Matusiak to restore parity with a late penalty.

It was a far from convincing performance from the Poles and, off the back of a laboured 1-0 win over Swiss second division club FC Schaffhausen last week, Beenhakker (pictured) has cause for concern ahead of their Euro 2008 opener against Germany on June 8.

But Beenhakker remains optimistic, preferring to focus on the positive aspects of their outing against Macedonia.

He said: "This game has helped me to make a decision about which players I should select for my Euro 2008 squad.

"The aim was to give the players who play in the Polish league a chance to gain international experience. I will repeat once again that at the Euro 2008 we must have 23 players who are ready to play at the highest level."

The coach was happy to see the progress of left-back Grzegorz Bronowicki, who has just recovered from a knee injury.

"He is slowly approaching the level on which he had played before the injury," Beenhakker added.

"He is constantly improving and I think we will be able to count on him at the Euro."

Meanwhile, Beenhakker also praised the performance of his side's pre-tournament opponents.

"The Macedonian players played with great ambition and commitment, like they were fighting for qualification for Euro 2008," Beenhakker explained.

"They were very challenging opponents and that was what we wanted."
