La Liga - Ruud to return in August

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy expects to be fit in time for next season after making progress on his comeback from knee surgery.

"I will start some gentle jogging next week, the Dutchman told Real Madrid TV.

The pre-season starts more or less in mid-July and if all goes well I think I'll be able to join up with the group again in the first weeks of August.

The 32-year-old former Manchester United and PSV hit-man has been out of action since November when he had surgery to repair damaged cartilage in his right knee.

For all his goals he­ won us nothing, and used to treat himself like the God­ of Old Trafford. 3 straight prem's and a champions­ league since he went (not to mention last night's­ appearance in the final) suggests we aren't doing­ too bad without him either!   2. lol well he did win the Pichichi his first season in La­ Liga with 25 goals and he did tie a La Liga record of 7­ consecutive matches with a goal but you are right, he­ ruined his career lol
