Reading director of football Nick Hammond admits the club are not only interested in managers out of work for the vacancy at the Madejski Stadium.
Hammond is heading the search for a replacement for Steve Coppell and has confirmed the club are placing no limits on the hunt.
He said: "If you're only looking at an out-of-work manager then you are limiting yourself from the very beginning. We wouldn't want to do that.
"We'd like to do the whole process as soon as possible but these days things can be difficult contractually and you have to talk to other clubs if that's a candidate you're looking at."

SC will be hard to replace so we need someone who has a prooven track record at top flight or who is a shining star in the championship.
Anything outside of that could be a worry!!
