Preston chairman Derek Shaw has confirmed that North End have rejected two bids from Nottingham Forest for captain Paul McKenna.
The 31-year-old is fourth on the club's all-time appearance list and played a key role in Alan Irvine's side's run to the play-offs.
Former Preston manager Billy Davies was linked with a £600,000 move to bring McKenna to Forest and Shaw has confirmed the interest.
Shaw told the club's official website: "I'm disappointed that a club of Nottingham Forest's stature feels that they have to do their business through the media.
"I can confirm that Preston North End did receive two bids from Nottingham Forest for Paul McKenna but both bids have been rejected by the club."

We let Grezza go for free because that vegetable Simpson didn't rate him. Now he is playing in the prem and Simpson is managing er..Shrewsbury.
If we sell McKenna to Forest it is an indication of our intent - or sheer lack of it.We will not get a replacement of similar calibre or commitment for less that £1.5 to £2 million. Selling him is poor business, Shaw.
Shaw denying we'll sell usually means the player will be gone inside 6 weeks.
