Former Dundee United defender Christian Kalvenes admits his shock move to Burnley was a challenge he could not turn down.Kalvenes left United at the end of last season, when his contract expired, and was expected to return to his native Norway.
But he jumped at the chance to join Burnley and will have his chance to shine in the Championship next season.
United have supported the 31-year-old's decision to stay in British football after two successful years in the Scottish Premier League.
Kalvenes said: "I was all set to go home this summer and the only thing that would steer us away from that was a really good offer.
"Burnley came in and that really changed my mind. I have never played football in England so it's something to really look forward to, especially the challenge of playing in the Championship."
He will team up with former Dundee midfielder Kevin McDonald at Turf Moor, and Burnley boss Owen Coyle's extensive knowledge of the Scottish game is paying off with his summer signings.
"I have to say that before Owen called I'm afraid didn't know much about Burnley Football Club," Kalvenes admitted.
