Sinnott out to silence critics

Fri 27 Jun, 05:15 PM

Port Vale manager Lee Sinnott is desperate to prove his doubters wrong and show he is good enough to manage in league football. Some have criticised whether Sinnott, who was appointed Vale boss in November after guiding non-league Farsley Celtic to three promotions in four seasons, is up to the task of managing at Football League level.

And despite failing to keep Vale in League One last term, Sinnott is adamant he is the man to lead the club.

"I never questioned myself. You can only do your best, and I feel I'm good enough," Sinnott told The Sentinel.

"I went and learned my craft in non-league and did a good job. The statistics back that up. But isn't every manager in the country on trial at different levels?

"You're never far away from people suddenly changing their opinion, and I'm talking about people higher than me. We're in the success-related business and if you're not successful they will get somebody else in. If you can't take that, don't put the manager's coat on."
