Swede Elmander trots in at Reebok

Fri 27 Jun, 06:00 PM

Bolton have completed the capture of Sweden international Johan Elmander from Toulouse with Daniel Braaten moving in the opposite direction.Elmander has signed a three-year contract and seals a deal Gary Megson has been looking to finalise for six months.

While no fee has been announced, it is estimated to be around the £10million mark with striker Braaten leaving as part of the cash-plus-player deal.

The fee will eclipse the club record fee of £8million that Bolton paid Fenerbahce for Nicolas Anelka.

Gary Megson is delighted with his new signing, who he expects to supply the goals to ensure Bolton are not dragged into a survival fight like last term.

Elmander, former league and cup winner in Denmark with Brondby, is remembered for netting a hat-trick in the decisive win over Bordeaux 12 months ago that earned Toulouse their place in the Champions League.

Elmander will link up with fellow new signing Fabrice Muamba at the Reebok.

"Johan is a player I have admired for a long time," said Megson.

"He is a player who will get us goals and also create other opportunities for his team-mates.

"I am still on the lookout for other players to boost the quality of our squad."
