Lyon will end negotiations with Marseille over the transfer of Hatem Ben Arfa if the Mediterranean club fail to complete the deal by close of play on Friday.
OM confirmed on Wednesday they had come to an agreement with Lyon regarding the signing of the France winger.
But the 21-year-old is still to sign on the dotted line, and Les Gones want the switch sewn up before the Ligue 1 registration deadline for the coming season.
They released a statement late on Thursday which read: "Lyon inform that the eventual transfer of Hatem Ben Arfa to Marseille must take place before tomorrow evening, Friday June 27, so that it is registered with the league before June 30.
"Without an agreement between the player and Lyon, ...Lyon will be led to renounce the transfer."
If Ben Arfa does complete the move, he will cost Marseille around 12million euros.
