Nihat Kahveci will return to Turkey to play for Besiktas next season, Villarreal said.

The Liga side team said on its website that the two clubs reached an agreement on the transfer of the Turkey striker.

No further details were disclosed on the deal to send the 29-year-old back to the club where he started his professional career.

Nihat, who previously played for Real Sociedad, spent three seasons at the Madrigal, although he spent much of the last year out with a serious knee injury picked up on international duty during Turkey's run to the semi-finals of the 2008 European Championships.

He scored 18 goals in 80 appearances for Villarreal.
