Germany booked a place in the European U21 final against England after beating Italy 1-0 in their semi-final in Helsingborg.
Andreas Beck's long-range strike early in the second half was enough to eliminate the Italians and set up a rematch with England in Monday's final.
The Italians had dominated the first half, with Sebastien Giovinco at the heart of attack for Pierluigi Casiraghi's side.
The diminutive Juventus playmaker gave the Germans an early scare when his shot from 25 yards fizzed through the air and baffling Manuel Neuer, the Schalke goalkeeper recovering in time to palm the effort over the bar for a corner.
From the subsequent corner, Italy skipper Marco Motta headed against the bar and Neuer again looked unsteady as he scrambled the ball clear.
Motta later headed another chance wide, while striker Roberto Acquafresca also spurned several good opportunities.
Italy were made to pay for their profligacy just two minutes after the break, when full-back Beck was given enough time to line up a low strike from 30 yards that caught goalkeeper Andrea Consigli off guard.
Italy resumed control of the match, but were thwarted several more times, either by Neuer or a defender guarding the post at set pieces.
The Germans will now meet England in Monday's final in Malmo, just six days after the two sides played out a 1-1 draw in Halmstad in their final group stage match.

Your Royal Highness, King David, how can a match in the under 21 euro championship be a repeat of a world cup final from fourty years ago? Of course, no match can ever be the same as any other.
I find all this arrogant, nationalistic banter before matches a complete waste of time. In these matches luck plays a large part: inspiration and fitness of the players on the day, the decisions taken by the ref and so forth. The German team will have as good a crack at it as we will. Nobody has a clue how it will end and all forecasts are purely wishful thinking.
In the end, in professional sport there is always the same winner: the players. They all get paid loads of money whatever the result, so that they can buy expensive cars and date top models. And the fans fork out their money whatever the result. Funny, isn't it?
COME ON PSYCHO,LETS NOW SMASH THEM KUARTS
COME ON ENGLAND
Even if England win the Germans are still in another final! For them it is not so special because it happerns most tournements. England however are sooooo desperate for a titel its funny!! Also, it sounds so sad when you mention 1966 because its a long, long, long, long time ago ;)
should be a crackin' game the final. Abit one sided mind! England to stuff the krauts.

A BIG THANKYOU TO STUART PEARCE-ALTHOUGH HE MUST B PISSED OFF LOSING SO MANY STARS FOR THE FINAL AFTER MORE SUSPENSIONS.ALSO ALMOST THROWING A 3-0 LEAD AWAY WAS SUICIDAL-VERY LUCKY TO B IN THE FINALS NOW IT WILL B A CASE OF HOLDING OUR NERVE.
I was hoping it would be an England Spain final just to prove how good the English are. But the England Germany final should be an interesting one and hope Psycho can show the seniors how it is done. An English team led by an English manager. Hope for the future? Go England.
